2-D Shape Assessment

We will be having a 2-D shape assessment on Monday. Some children are having difficulty remembering the names of shapes.  They need to be able identify and describe the following shapes:

• triangles
• quadrilaterals (rhombus, trapezoid, parallelograms rectangle, square)
• pentagon
• hexagon
• heptagon
• octagon
• nonagon
• decagon

We will be moving on to 3-D shapes soon. It would be helpful to work on these shapes at home.

• cubes
• different types of prisms
• different types of pyramids

They also need to know the difference between faces, vertices and edges and use these words to describe 3-D shapes.
