Here is what we have been working on and will be working on for the next little while:
Math
We have been working on identifying, describing and sorting 2-d shapes (up to a decagon).
We have been exploring angles. Students need to be able to identify right angles, more than right angles, and less than right angles in isolation but also in shapes. They do not need to names acute and obtuse in grade 3. Some students are having difficulty recognizing angle types in shapes and would benefit from extra practise at home.
We will be moving on to 3-D shapes, in particular different types of pyramids and prisms.
We will also be exploring symmetry.
Language
We have been working on procedural texts. You can see your child's procedural texts on their Google drive in their language folder.
We will be moving on to narrative texts next week.
Science
We have just moved on to our next units in science. We will be exploring soil and plants. We are having Scientists in the School in for a soil workshop on May 12th and will need at least 4 parent volunteers. The workshop cannot run without volunteers. Thank you in advance. A note will be going home shortly.
EQAO
EQAO testing will take place on May 24, 25, 26, 30, 31 and June 1st. Testing will take place block 1, so please have your child here on time because we will start right away at 8:30. Please try your best to ensure students are at school on those dates.
