What are we working on?

I hope everyone had a great March break.

Here is what we are working on:

Math:

We have been working on money.

Students need to be able to:

-add and subtract money to $10
-represent and describe relationships between coins and bills to $10
-estimate, count, and represent the value of a collection of coins and bills to $10

Many students require further practise with these concepts.  Please work on these skills with your child.

Continue to work on multiplication facts up to 7 x7.

Science:

We have been exploring the strength and stability of structures by building straw structures.

Please send in empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls for further exploration of these concepts.

Reading:

We continue to focus on making inferences to improve comprehension.  We are also working on using details from the text to support our answers in reading response questions.

Please continue to read regularly with your child.  Have them read orally to you so they can improve fluency and expression.  Ask lots of questions to help  improve comprehension.

Writing:

We are still working on explanatory writing.
